Kindergarten Roundup is usually held in March or April. Families with a child/children starting kindergarten in the fall should be receiving an appointment in the mail in February/March.
The following immunizations are required by MN state law prior to entry to kindergarten: a series of 5 Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis), 4 Polio, 3 Hepatitis B, 2 MMR (mumps, measles, rubella), and 2 Varicella (Chicken Pox) or documentation of having the chicken pox disease.
Children also need a preschool screening done prior to kindergarten. It is especially beneficial to have this completed prior to Kindergarten Roundup and can be done as early as 3 years old. Please contact your local public health agency to get this done.
If you need to get your child’s immunizations up to date or if your child needs a preschool screening, please call Horizon Public Health (Glenwood office) at (320) 634-7822. Your physician/primary care provider can also make sure your child has the required vaccinations.
We look forward to meeting you and your child at Kindergarten roundup!
