Who Is This Mr. Meisner?
I started my teaching career in 1982 as a Peace Corps volunteer teaching hearing impaired children in Sierra Leone, West Africa. After two years overseas, my wife, Wendy, and I returned to the U.S.A. I taught fourth, fifth, and sixth graders in McGregor and McGrath, MN over the next three years. In 1987 we moved to the Minnewaska area and I’ve been teaching here ever since. I’ve had the privilege of teaching third, fourth, and sixth graders in Glenwood, and I’ve also worked a number of years coaching junior high basketball and JV tennis as well.
My Philosophy of Education
Children come to school to learn. My goals are to build on their natural curiosity, to create paths to new ways of thinking, to reinforce life skills, to develop a solid academic foundation, to instill individual integrity, to enhance positive self images, and to open doors to better communication in my students using a nurturing kindness and a caring sense of humor while maintaining a respectful and healthy learning environment.
