The Media Center at Minnewaska Area Elementary is designed to meet the needs of students and staff by providing a wide variety of materials to supplement the curriculum.

Our goal is to promote reading and to provide access to information.

The Minnewaska Elementary Media Center has a collection of over 15,000 books.  The collection is continually being updated to meet curriculum and recreational reading needs. The students also have access to current magazines and newspapers.

The elementary media center has six computers available for student use.  The students can access Spectrum, the online catalog, to see what books are available for check out.

The students can also take Accelerated Reader tests on the media center computers.

The internet is also available on the computers to use for  research, for those who have parental permission to use it.

“Children who have access to books

are more likely to read for enjoyment

and information.

Children who read for enjoyment increase their reading skills and their desire to read to learn.”
