MAS Announces Angie VanZee as New Community Education Director
Minnewaska Area Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Angie VanZee as the district’s new Community Education Director, effective July 1, 2025. VanZee will succeed longtime director Bill Mills, who is retiring after a distinguished career dedicated to the growth and success of community programming in the district.
VanZee brings extensive experience and deep community knowledge to the position. She has served as the Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent of Schools and will continue in that role part-time while leading the Community Education Department. The new position will be structured as a .7 FTE for Community Education and .3 FTE for Superintendent support.
Superintendent Chip Rankin expressed strong support for the appointment, stating:
“Angie’s dedication and experience make her an excellent choice to continue and expand upon the programs that have been a vital part of our community.”
Throughout her time at Minnewaska Area Schools, VanZee has played an integral role in program development, communications, and community outreach. She holds a Community Education Director licensure and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Educational Leadership.
“I’m honored to take on this role and continue serving a district and community I deeply care about,” said VanZee. “I look forward to working with staff, families, and community members to grow and strengthen our Community Education offerings.”
The district also extends its sincere gratitude to Bill Mills, whose leadership and service have had a profound and lasting impact. Under his guidance, the Community Education program flourished, creating opportunities for learners of all ages and fostering meaningful partnerships across the region.
