Superintendent Chip Rankin Selected for New Position
Minnewaska Area Schools announced today that Superintendent Chip Rankin has been selected as the next Superintendent of Brainerd Public Schools.
Superintendent Rankin has served Minnewaska Area Schools for nearly nine years, during which time he has led the district with dedication to students, staff, and community. His children have grown up in the district, with his son Nate graduating from Minnewaska Area High School. In addition to his superintendent role, Rankin has served as head wrestling coach.
“This decision was not made lightly,” Rankin said. “Minnewaska Area Schools has been far more than a place of work for me—it has been home for my family. Because of the dedication and care of our staff, MAS is a strong, respected, and student-centered district. I am incredibly proud of what we have built, and it has truly been an honor to serve alongside such an outstanding team.”
Superintendent Rankin will remain with Minnewaska Area Schools through the end of the 2025-2026 school year. His focus during this time will be on finishing the year strong, supporting students and staff, and ensuring a thoughtful transition. He will work closely with the School Board to help identify the next leader for the district.
The School Board will provide additional information about the superintendent search process in the coming weeks.
