Early Dismissal Friday, April 21, 2023

As you may be aware, our community recently experienced a Pope County Deputy, community member, friend, father, and husband, Josh Owen. This is a tragic event for not only his family but the entire community. Please keep his wife, 4th Grade son, and the entire family in your thoughts and prayers. 

Because of the positive role Josh played in our community, we anticipate a large number of people who will want to attend his memorial service.  The district would like to honor the family’s request to hold Officer Josh Owen’s funeral at Minnewaska  Area High School gymnasium.  A Memorial Service celebrating Josh’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 22nd, at the Minnewaska Area High School. Visitation will be on Friday, April 21st, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. To accommodate the family, the Elementary, Middle, and High Schools will dismiss early; as follows:

Dismissal Times

• Minnewaska Area Elementary School will release at 12:30 pm
• Minnewaska Area Middle and High School (4-12) will release at 1:00 pm
• WIN will finish the day as usual.
• Morning Preschool classes will meet as usual. 
• The Full day Preschool class will be released at 12:30 with the Elementary school. 
• No PM Classes for Preschool or Early Childhood Education
• The ECFE Touch the Truck Event scheduled for Sat, April 22, is Canceled for this year. 

School-Aged Childcare:

• Students who are already registered online and currently attend After School Program operates as normal ($8 fee, open until 6:00 pm)
• Students who have not attended the After School Program and those who are not registered must call 634-4567 to see if spots are available (no fee, must be picked up by 3:00 pm)
