Food Resources in Pope County

United Way Food Drop

United Way’s Food Drop rotates counties by month. Each month there will be a Food Drop that you are welcome to attend either in Douglas or Pope County. There is no charge for the food. All are welcome to sign up! If you have questions or need assistance signing up or picking up the food, please contact Mary Walsh at 320-239-1317 or mwalsh@isd2149.org. Registration this month is open on Tuesday, Oct 28 at 10:00 am. Registration required by phone or online. Registration closes when slots are full or 4pm. Phone: 320-834-7800 | Online: www.uwdp.org. Arrive at the Food Drop at your scheduled time. Drive through our pick up line and receive an assortment of food free of charge.

Backpack Attack

Students attending Minnewaska Area Schools (EC-12 and WIN) may participate in this program, which sends a bag of food home on Fridays with the students who have signed up. Please contact Mary Walsh at 320-239-1317 if you would like to sign up.

The Lighthouse

Minnewaska Area Middle School and High School students have access to a food pantry located in the school building. Students who are in need of food are encouraged to utilize The Lighthouse with no questions asked. Students or families can contact any teacher, counselor or school social worker to access this resource.
