MAS Hires Mental Health Coordinator

Minnewaska Area Schools (MAS) is excited to announce the recent hire of Amanda Ogdahl, MS, LPCC as a Mental Health Coordinator. A 1999 graduate of Minnewaska Area High School, Ogdahl has been involved in the MAS district and community for many years. In addition to being an alumna and parent, Ogdahl was previously a MAS staff member as a Mental Health Professional until her departure in August 2019. In November 2020, Ogdahl was elected to serve the district as a School Board Member. Per policy, prior to her acceptance of this new position Ogdahl resigned her position on the MAS School Board.

“While we are sad to lose Amanda’s knowledge and insight on the MAS School Board, we are glad to have her once again as a member of the MAS staff,” says Superintendent Chip Rankin. “Her expertise and experience are a great fit for this role and we are proud to be offering increased mental health services to our students.”

COVID-19 funding provided the opportunity to create the position of Mental Health Services Coordinator. In this role, Ogdahl will serve general education students from kindergarten through 12th grade. She has experience working with children and adolescents from their initial diagnostic assessment to discharge. Students will be assessed and an individualized treatment plan will be formed with specific needs and goals. Ogdahl has worked with individuals with depression, anxiety, Autism, ADHD, PTSD, adjustment disorders, bipolar, self-esteem, and a variety of other mental health disorders. Parents and providers will be able to complete a referral form and find out additional information on the Student Support Service page on the MAS website.

Ogdahl will begin her new role at MAS on August 16. The school board will meet to discuss who to fill the vacancy on the board on August 11.
