Minnewaska Area Schools Working Through Plan for Fall 2021
Laker Families,
Minnewaska Area Schools (MAS) has been working diligently to plan for the 2021-2022 school year. Our top priority is providing a safe learning environment while continuing to provide high-quality education to our students.
As a result, MAS has been planning for in-person classroom learning using guidance from the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) and Minnesota Department of Health (MDH). MDE issued guidance today that highly recommends masks but isn’t making them mandatory; MAS plans to follow this guidance, with masks being recommended by not required based on current local COVID-19 infection rates.
Any plan implemented will be fluid in these ever-changing times and may change and evolve as new information becomes available. It is vital to stay flexible to accommodate families’ needs and wants, and we recognize this is not a one-size-fits-all scenario. The goal of MAS is to communicate our plan as quickly as possible.
MAS values your feedback and is committed to providing our families choices to meet their educational needs; we plan to personally reach out to every family whose children attend MAS on Tuesday, August 10th and Wednesday, August 11 between 8:00 A.M. and 7:30 P.M. A member of the MAS staff will be calling each family to discuss the individual needs of your child(ren) and the upcoming school year. In addition, the following survey is meant to collect data to help the incident command team deliver the safest and effective learning environment for all Laker Students.
We are dedicated to continually monitoring our students’ safety and education and keep you informed at every step along the way. We are focused and committed to our Minnewaska family.
