Protecting Our Investment: Why Building Maintenance Can’t Wait

At Minnewaska Area Schools, our mission is to Engage Every Student, Every Day! Critical building reinvestment in this bond referendum focuses on essential systems that make this engagement possible.

Our facility assessment revealed urgent needs that directly impact student learning. Many HVAC systems are original to the buildings and well past their expected lifespan. When heating fails in January or cooling struggles in September, it prevents us from fully engaging our students in their learning.

The bond referendum would address:

  • HVAC Systems: Replacing aging units that are expensive to repair and inefficient to operate
  • Infrastructure Updates: Ensuring electrical, plumbing, and structural systems meet current standards
  • Preventive Maintenance: Protecting the community’s previous investments

Just as you maintain your home to protect your investment, we must maintain our school buildings. These are necessities that ensure safe, healthy environments for learning.

Our 2015 bond addressed many pressing needs, but buildings require ongoing care. Delaying critical repairs leads to more expensive emergency fixes and potential safety concerns.

These investments protect our ability to engage every student. When students aren’t distracted by uncomfortable temperatures or teachers aren’t dealing with facility failures, everyone can focus on meaningful learning every single day.
